“Queeripheria” is a comic and illustrated posters exhibition that was commissioned by the Gay Center in Tel Aviv-Yafo (an institution operated by the Municipality of Tel Aviv-Yafo), in collaboration with Israel’s leading gay youth organization, “IGY”. After recently opening in the Gay Center it will soon travel to towns and cities considered as the geographical periphery of Israel. This is enabled thanks to a grant from the Lottery Council for Culture and Arts.
The exhibition portrays 12 stories of LGBT youth, mostly from those towns and cities that compose the geographical periphery of Israel, where attitudes towards the LGBT community tend to be less progressive, to say the least. After recieving and selecting the stories, I created a comic spread and an illustrated poster for each one.
